Reports to: Principal
General Summary: The multilingual learner paraprofessional will provide supplemental services to English Learners in the process of learning academic English in a school setting
Essential Functions:
- Supplement services for ML students to provide English language development under the direct supervision of the EL teacher.
- Supplement services for ML students to assist with academic language in the content or grade level classroom under the direct supervision of the ML or classroom teacher.
- Assist students in adapting to a new culture.
- Assist ML students with school work to increase academic language.
- Attend ML Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) for direction and professional development.
- Participates in staff development activities as recommended by the principal.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor(s)
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED, 48 college credits or the ability to pass the ParaPro Assessment
- Ability to work with students in an individualized, small group or classroom setting under the direct supervision of a certified teacher
- Self-motivated and able to prioritize and organize responsibilities.
- Fluently bilingual in spoken and written Spanish and English is desirable
Length of Position: 180 days (for the school year)
