Reports to: Principal

 

General Summary: The multilingual learner paraprofessional will provide supplemental services to English Learners in the process of learning academic English in a school setting

 

Essential Functions:

• Supplement services for ML students to provide English language development under the direct supervision of the EL teacher.
• Supplement services for ML students to assist with academic language in the content or grade level classroom under the direct supervision of the ML or classroom teacher.
• Assist students in adapting to a new culture.
• Assist ML students with school work to increase academic language.
• Attend ML Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) for direction and professional development.
• Participates in staff development activities as recommended by the principal.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor(s)

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma/GED, 48 college credits or the ability to pass the ParaPro Assessment
• Ability to work with students in an individualized, small group or classroom setting under the direct supervision of a certified teacher
• Self-motivated and able to prioritize and organize responsibilities.
• Fluently bilingual in spoken and written Spanish and English is desirable

Length of Position: 180 days (for the school year)

Position Type: Non-Exempt
