General Summary: To provide educational evaluation services to students who are experiencing difficulty in the school setting

 

Essential Responsibilities:

(These essential responsibilities are those the individual must be able to perform unaided or with the assistance of reasonable accommodation.)  Essential Functions of this position are, but not limited to, the following:

 

  1. Operate within the parameters of the operation, programs, policies and procedures of the corporation, as well as individual schools
  2. Maintain a cooperative relationship with colleagues and co-workers in the mutual interest of students
  3. Conduct educational assessments of students within prescribed timelines and at the direction of the assigned school psychologist
  4. Prepare typed report of results of educational evaluations and/or observational data
  5. Attend case conferences for students, as appropriate
  6. Participate in on-going professional development activities related to the role of educational diagnostician
  7. Attend cooperative, departmental, district-wide meetings
  8. Perform other reasonably-related duties as may be assigned by the director of special services

 Knowledge and Ability:

  1. Ability to manage and prioritize multiple activities to meet deadlines under time constraints
  2. Ability to communicate orally and in writing sufficient to express ideas, thoughts and instruction clearly to staff, patrons and students
  3. Ability to collaborate effectively on inter- and intra-agency levels
  4. Knowledge and experience with computer software and systems
  5. Exhibits patience, courtesy, respect, ethical conduct and tact when dealing with all people
  6. Ability to drive a car

 

Job Requirements:

  1. General: Individuals must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed or be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential responsibilities of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations, in order to safely perform the essential responsibilities of the job.
  2. Physical: Should be able to perform the following and similar physical demands in completing work tasks:  walking, climbing, stooping, reaching, pushing, feeling, crouching, lifting, pulling, standing, kneeling, carrying, handling, talking, hearing, seeing, sitting, and keyboarding.  Able to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
  3. Environmental: Must be able to handle exposure to dirt, odors, dust, wetness/humidity, heat, vibration, cold, sudden temperature changes, noise, darkness or poor lighting, fumes, elevated workplaces, fire, mechanical and electrical hazards.
  4. Mental: Must be able to reason, analyze, prioritize, conceptualize, make judgments, and solve problems.

 

Qualifications

  •  Education – Bachelor’s Degree (minimum)
  • Certification or Licensure – Special Education Teaching License (preferred)
  • Experience – Evidence of success as a highly effective classroom teacher.
  • Knowledge – Understanding of collaborative learning teams and effective instructional practices, standards, formative and summative assessments, and ways to disseminate derived data.

Full Time: 185 days
