Reports to: Asst Director of Maint and Grounds

General Summary: Grounds laborer works directly with the grounds and maintenance dept to keep our outdoor facilities in order. This position offers a wide variety of tasks. 

Essential Functions:

• Primary job duties would consist of weed eating all locations as well as general grounds laborer assigned by Head Grounds Keeper
• Job may also consist of mowing lawns at assigned facilities, trims and edges
• Performs required equipment maintenance as scheduled
• Performs general grounds keeping tasks as assigned
• Removes trash in the area before mowing
• Treats equipment with care; raises mower on sharp turns
• Remains on tractor at all times when mower engine is running; does not operate equipment in immediate area when students are present; exercises safety precautions at all times
• Cleans mowing unit daily after use
• Immediately reports to supervisor any damage to school property
• Reports any needed repairs/service to mowing equipment to supervisor
• Performs other reasonably-related duties as may be assigned by the Director of Buildings and Grounds.

• Good mechanical aptitude
• Proven ability to work well with others as part of a team
