Reports to: Director or Special Services and Teacher or Record

General Summary: To maintain student’s health status, thereby enabling them to fully benefit from the educational experience.

 Essential Functions: 

• Provide personal care and assistance with activities of daily living. These include but aren’t limited to: assisting student with toileting needs, change of clothing, keeping student clean, transferring to and from wheelchair, repositioning and meal preparation.
• Document on flow sheet any requested information pertaining to above activities.
• Collaborates with teacher of record and school nurse on health matters particularly relative to health and safety issues for selected student.
• Assist student with organization, noting homework and academic tasks. 
• Is willing to assist teacher of record on any school day that their student is not in attendance.
• Consistently demonstrates dependability and punctuality with work attendance.
• Performs other reasonably related duties assigned by the teacher of record and/or other appropriate administrators.
• Should be able to perform the following and similar physical demands in completing work tasks: walking, climbing, stooping, reaching, pushing, crouching, lifting, pulling, standing, kneeling, carrying, handling, talking, hearing, seeing, sitting, and keyboarding.  Able to regularly lift up to 30 lbs and 100 lbs with assistance.

Qualifications

• Current CNA Certification registered with the ISDH
• Good communication skills both written and spoken
• Must be able to safely and successfully perform job-related functions
• Experience working with special needs clients preferred
• Student/people oriented
