MIDDLE BUSINESS SCHOOL TEACHER 

Reports to: Building Principal

General Summary: A middle school teacher provides students educational instruction that will foster and accelerate their intellectual, physical, social, and career development in accordance with district policies and procedures.  The candidate must possess basic computer skills, be able to teach the Microsoft Office Suite products, and other related material for business courses at the middle school level.  Classes included in this description include HOPE, Microsoft Academy, Digital Design and Publications, Intro to Computer Science, and Focus on Business (8th grade only)

Essential Functions:

• Maintains clear and up-to-date written lesson plans. Able to show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior.
• Committed to Professional Learning Communities for school improvement.
• Increases continued student learning. Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
• Makes effective use of planning time. Observes designed working hours per the job assignment and uniqueness of each assignment.
• Employs a variety of instructional techniques, technology, and instructional media consistent with the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
• Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct. Develops reasonable rules of behavior and procedure in the classroom and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
• Conducts assigned activities from the administration, in conformity with the approved policies of the Board of Education and State and Federal Law.
• Participates cooperatively with the principal in performance evaluations as stated in the district’s policies and procedures.
• Supports and implements strategies that enhance student performance on local, state, and federal assessments.
• Performs other duties as assigned at the request of the superintendent, superintendent designee, or principal.
• Maintains confidentiality as defined within the policy and procedure manual.

Qualifications:

• Education – Bachelor’s Degree (minimum)
• Certification or Licensure – Valid Indiana Teaching License.
• Experience – Evidence of success as a highly effective classroom teacher.
• Knowledge – Understanding of collaborative learning teams and effective instructional practices, standards, formative and summative assessments, and ways to disseminate derived data. Knowledge of basic computer skills

Length of Contract: 185 days
