WARSAW COMMUNITY SCHOOLS ELEMENTARY INSTRUCTIONAL COACH JOB DESCRIPTION

Reports to: Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Education and Superintendent
General Summary: An instructional coach focuses on successful implementation of district-wide instructional practices, methodology, and K-6 curriculum to increase student learning and build empowered and equipped educators.
Essential Functions: • Embraces Professional Learning Communities as a framework for school change and improvement. • Serves as a member of the Instructional Coaches’ collaborative team. • Strives to continuously improve district-wide practices, culture, and instruction. • Collaborates with school administrators, technology coordinator, Chief Academic Officer, Chief Accountability Officer, coaches, teachers, and other school system personnel in implementing the district framework and best practices to increase student results. • Coaches teachers to develop lesson plans, create common vocabulary, and facilitate instruction of the adopted curriculum. • Develops and conducts trainings with whole group, small group, and one-to-one instructional practices and strategies. • Pursues, writes, maintains, and coordinates grant opportunities as directed in conjunction with the district-wide mission. • Empowers colleagues by providing information, mentoring, coaching, modeling, collaborative problem solving, and solution-focused dialogue. • Analyzes data to identify, design, and implement preemptive interventions collaboratively with teams. • Works with building administrators on building-specific requests. • Performs other reasonably related duties as assigned by supervisor. • Maintains confidentiality as defined within the policy and procedure manual.
Qualifications: • Education – Bachelor’s Degree (minimum) • Certification or Licensure – Valid Indiana Administrative License. • Experience – Evidence of success as a highly effective classroom teacher. • Knowledge – Understanding of collaborative learning teams and effective instructional practices, standards, formative and summative assessments, and ways to disseminate derived data.
Length of Contract: 195 days
