PRINCIPAL

Reports to: Superintendent, Chief Academic Officer, Chief Accountability Officer, Director of Human Resources

 

General Summary: The Principal is the leader directly responsible for the administration, supervision, and evaluation in matters pertaining to the management of the school including instruction, personnel, students, curriculum, budget, school organization, professional development, and community information.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Assumes responsibility for the school and educational program.
  • Committed to Professional Learning Communities for school improvement.
  • Visits classrooms to maintain an ongoing knowledge of classroom procedures for teaching and learning at the site and to assure modifications to the instructional program based on WCS initiatives.
  • Assumes leadership responsibilities for the development and improvement of staff.
  • Holds high expectations for self as evidenced by modeling positive work habits and behaviors.
  • Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with students, staff, and community.
  • Participates in professional growth activities.
  • Provides sound fiscal management of building resources and programs.
  • Prepares a calendar of school programs and activities, coordinating the needs of the other schools.
  • Participates personally and encourages staff participation in parent groups and other community groups as a means of strengthening understanding and support for the school system.
  • Establishes effective procedures for student discipline during school hours and at all school activities sponsored by the school.
  • Communicates effectively orally and in writing to staff, patrons, and students.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief Academic Officer, Chief Accountability Officer, Director of Human Resources, or Superintendent.
  • Maintains confidentiality as defined within the policy and procedure manual.

Qualifications:

  • Education level – Master’s Degree from an approved institution with a major in educational administration or equivalent.
  • Certification or Licensure – Valid Indiana Administrative License.
  • Experience – Previous experience working in public school system(s) as a teacher, administrator, and/or in an office of education.

Length of Contract: 215 Days

Position Type: Exempt
