Behavior Coach

 

Reports to: Special Education Teacher/Building Principal

 

General Summary:  Assist building staff in implementing Behavior Intervention Plans for students with emotional disabilities and to assist in teaching students appropriate alternative behaviors to replace inappropriate behaviors.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Assist the teacher of record and staff with
    • the development and implementation of the functional behavioral assessment and behavior intervention plan.
    • the direct supervision of students in and outside the classroom setting, including lunch, recess, assemblies, and field trips.
    • behavioral interventions of students with Behavior Intervention Plans.
    • providing escort service, reinforcement activities, supervision, and crisis intervention.
  • Communicate with the teacher of record, mental health therapist, classroom teacher, and principal regarding the special needs and progress of students.
  • Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work developed and assigned by the teachers.
  • Participate in pre-service and in-service training.
  • Record behavioral data daily on students using data system designed by the classroom management system and documents specific crisis incidents using the appropriate format.
  • Assist in the implementation of the IEP and Behavior Plan under the supervision of the special education teacher and mental health therapist.
  • Assist students in establishing and maintaining satisfactory interpersonal relationships in the school setting.
  • Perform reasonably related duties as may be assigned by the principal or supervising teacher

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • Experience working with emotionally handicapped or delinquent students
  • Associate Degree , Sixty (60) credit hours or the ability to pass the ParaPro Assessment

 Length of Contract: 36 weeks
