Reports to: Special Education Teacher

General Summary: The Job Coach assists the teacher in procuring and maintaining appropriate school- or community-based, vocational training activities in order to educate special education students to become effective and independent on the job.

Essential Functions:

• Reports student levels for the purpose of review in case conferences, annual case reviews, pre-service, and regular in-service trainings
• Assigns internal jobs to students.
• Tutors students within the classroom and community in job search and vocational skills to enhance employment readiness; occasional tutoring in classwork, as needed.
• Transports and periodically evaluates students in job locations within the community.
• Coordinates internal and external employers to partner in meeting the objective of work education for students.
• Communicates with peer tutors to ensure students’ work is acceptable, providing guidance if needed.
• Assists in the development of job station adaptations as needed.
• Provides transportation and/or accompanies students to and from community-based training sites for individual and/or small groups of students.
• Trains students on specific job functions internally and externally.
• Performs other reasonably related duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Maintains confidentiality as defined within the policy and procedure manual.

 Qualifications:

• 48 College Credits or ability to pass the Paraprofessional Assesment Test
• Valid driver’s license
• Evidence of insurability

Length of Position: 180 days

Position Type: Non-exempt
