Reports to: Principal
General Summary: A head custodian performs general and supervisory custodial duties and assists in maintaining the building and grounds, thereby enabling staff and students to utilize them to the fullest.
Essential Functions:
- Secures the building each day and assists with deliveries to the school.
- Performs area inspections when needed to maintain cleaning quality.
- Assists with and/or assigns custodial staff to the setup and supervision for athletic events and other extra-curricular activities.
- Relocates furniture, tables, chairs, etc. as needed.
- Stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, and lifting of various items.
- Orders and maintains stock for cleaning supplies, paper products, chemicals, and other supplies as needed.
- Assists in general maintenance of the building.
- Conducts performance evaluations of custodial staff.
- Maintains building grounds, including mowing, landscaping, and sidewalk snow removal.
- Performs general custodial duties in scheduled work areas including sweeping, cleaning, dusting, washing walls and windows, and gathering and disposing of trash, as needed in the event of a custodial absence.
- Assists cafeteria staff during mealtimes with set-up, cleaning, and trash removal.
- Performs other reasonably related duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Maintains confidentiality as defined within the policy and procedure manual.
Qualifications:
- Education – High School Diploma or GED
Length of Position: Up to 52 weeks
