General Summary: Provide English-Spanish interpretation for student case conferences, administration of approved Spanish language assesment, and Special Services evaluations and observations. Other interpretation services based on need.
Essential Duties:
- Performs reasonable related duties, which supports teachers, EL students and parents, as requested by supervisors.
- Assists EL students with the administration of language assesments and Special Education/Services observations and evaluations.
- Assists teachers, students and parents with interpretation at case conferences.
- Maintains accurate records of names, locations, dates and times, and description of the interpretation services provided.
- Assists Special Services and EL Services as related to fall registration, parent-teacher conferences, home phone calls and visits
Knowledge and Ability:
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple activites to meet deadlines under time.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English and Spanish with proficiency to express ideas, thoughts and intruction clearly to staff, patrons and students.
- Ability to collaborate effectively on inter-and intra agency levels.
- Knowledge and experience with computer software and systems.
- Exhibits patience, courtesy, respect, ethical conduct and tact when dealing with all.
- Ability to drive a car.
Qualifications:
- 48 college credit hours or the ability to pass the paraprofessional test.
- Ability to work with students in a one to one setting.
- Required: English-Spanish bilingual
- Desired: Cross-cultural experienced preffered.
Length of Contract: Hourly services as needed up to 250 hours/years. Hourly schedule will vary based on need. Advance notice will be given.
