Reports to: Principal
General Summary: Provides leadership to develop and maintain a high-quality Cross Country Club program that promotes physical activity and good sportsmanship. Supports each participating student in achieving a higher level of skill, an enhanced appreciation for the values of discipline and teamwork, and an increased level of self-esteem.
Essential Functions:
- Oversees cross country club students during practices and meets.
- Assesses skills and assigns team positions as required
- Develops a regular practice schedule and organizes practice time to provide both individual and team development.
- Coaches and instructs students, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
- Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior and provides proper supervision of students at all times.
- Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards participants, officials, and spectators.
- Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Has successfully worked with children
- Self-motivated and able to prioritize and organize responsibilities
